A Knife To Remember

Recently, the organisation that sells the Swiss Army Knife has released one that incorporates an MP3 player.

As we have now got the technology to store massive amounts of data in incredibly small spaces I can see no reason why the same sort of technology should not be used to incorporate a USB HDD and storage "key" into a pocket knife. A simple touchscreen interface on one side of the handle allows input and retrieval of data, to make the device a PDA.

Of course, there is a knife blade (removable) so you can pass throught airport security checks without hindrance.

I think they're there already - see link. No spinning hard drive, but I doubt you'd want something so easily damaged in a penknife anyway.

And the touchscreen interface? And the removable blade? Eh? If I didn't know any better I'd say you guys are the PS-bot in drag.

PS-bot? You had to be there.

The dreaded Peter Seally bot. A mythical creature that is supposed to lurk the halfbakery, annotating ideas with "Baked, see link" almost before they are posted. I think he deleted his account many, many moons ago.

methinksnot, May 22 2006

Pretty impressive for you to have picked that up in such a short time. You must have read nearly the entire site.

I'm sure glad that we finally ran off that PeterSealy dude permanently.

half, May 22 2006

[half], I have been lurking here long enough to actually see the bot in action.

methinksnot, May 22 2006

I get that you found a USB stick, [DC], but you haven't shown me the HDD and PDA functions.

UnaBubba, May 23 2006

[half], if I recall correctly Mr [thinksnot]'s entrance to the HB (on one of the 'how did you get here' type ideas) apparently he's been lurking for 5 years or so. I think that's long enough to make him an official halfbakery stalker.

       Creepy.

half, May 23 2006

Yep, [half] it's a good job we got rid of him - I don't think he curried much favour around these parts anyway.

zen_tom, May 23 2006

UB: as noted. This just doesn't seem as inspired as your usual ideas. And I still think an HDD is a negative for either a PDA or a penknife - those things get knocked around a lot.

       ..........Swiss dolphin cheese?

I saw a Swiss Army Knife in Milan. It had about 140 gadgets on it, including an AM/FM radio and MP3 player. It was about 8in x 4in x 1in

They wanted 1499 Euros for it. I left it on the shelf.
