The best idea is baked by halfbakers

A selected idea (the most voted) is made by the donated collaboration of halfbakers for the benefit of the world . Halfbake.com should have the expertise and resources to make any idea a reality . A section of halfbake server space , which people can follow , could be used to combine the skills and actions necessary to gift the world a really cooked idea . No money would be involved ( postage possibly ) as resources could be bits lying around spare , and of course halfbake smarts would cut to the cheapest real world solution . Any gift from earthy philantropists for this endeavour would still be greatly appreciated . The ideas can then be moved from the mind , paper , ram and physical separation to a global modifying acting result . If people on halfbake can not gel to get worth , where can they ?

Hopefully year by year halfbake bake will generate , where business failed , and supply the world with free croissants .

I for one try and bake virtually all of my half baked ideas, I've even tried to bake a few others (like the r-theta etch-a-sketch). Why just one idea a year ?

Don't want to over capitalise and go belly up first try . Group smarts is always better if everyone is for the same goal and If the idea hits problems Halfbake is there to lean on .

Been talked about before, many times. Too impractical to be workable, for the most part, for anything very complex. Problems usually lie in investment capital, time, and the practicalities of essentially a multi-national cooperative where the interested parties are separated by great distances.

I have tinkered with the idea of baking one of my non-commercially viable, impractical ideas just for kicks. It's goofy, but there are some good learning opportunities to be had. Not to mention an excuse to buy some toys and get my fingers back in to hardware design for a bit.

This idea does come up frequently. I think, for the most part, that the people here don't post an idea here if they are serious about making it a reality.

I've been working on both my (non-deleted) ideas. I'm getting somewhere on my bio-bbs, but my anti-damage gutar is on the idea shelf cause of lack of spare guitars

Everyone is talking as they are working alone .

The ideas stuck into halfbake oven would have to be ones that people want to donate to the world for the earths gain not to overstuff a bank account .

Halfbake has the ability to "internet" minds all around the globe . This processing / thinking power is unmatched and should be able to overcome cost and distance . Universities / Polytechs have access to other resources , even high schools have a limited ability .

The mind is Infinite , pity money has to be a limiting factor .

Ahem: wrong category - c'mon, you should know better ny now.

a concurrent build by different teams , with globally similar parts might help step a bake and also throw light on variant problems . Time doesn't nescessary have to be a factor and , if depending on the idea , the cooking might be a while lot of fun . ( especiallly if you get kids involved ) .

All depends on the idea .

i'm with [neilp] here - every idea that I have I attempt to get fully baked. I can't set up businesses, I can't manfacture items, but I can sure write emails!

No success so far ... but lots of interest.

I have no idea why venture capitalists don't surf these pages for gems of ideas... or do they?

jonthegeologist, Oct 12 2003

So you have a working prototype , and know how you made the bake . Youve manufactured . The problem now is getting people to "use the thing" and tell everyone else so someone else wants one . Banks love interest , people interested , money flows your way .

This idea is about giving the world a working baked idea that can be made and used on the cheap for free benefit . This is done by colaboration of halfbakers to overcome problems that the build team generate . Once baked and used , plans / kits of the bake can be gifted .

wjt, for the more successful businesses, usually the marketing studies come first, to identify a wanted need.

RayfordSteele, Oct 12 2003

I can understand this for complex ideas with expensive prototype builds .

But halfbake ideas that have been baked USE is the best show of need and possibly success .

But if your not using your own idea , what's the point ?

wjt, Oct 13 2003

It may just be me, [solun], but I have no (0) idea what you're talking about,
