(Spurred by another idea)
Suppose you have houseguests (or maybe your kids) who don't always remember to flush and wash hands after using the facilities. The new intelliflush system works as follows:
1. Toilet system detects addition of solid or liquid waste, and activates door lock.
2. Sink
system detects user washing hands (not just the flow of water, but hands actually IN the water stream)
3. User presents hands to an automatic air-dryer, which after drying the hands flushes the toilet, activates a puff of air freshener, and unlocks the door.
Clean air, clean hands, flushed toilet!

I seem to remember reading an article last year where someone studied the issue, and verified scientifically exactly what UnaBubba said---the hot air of the hand dryer provides a perfect environment for bacteria to thrive. |
