Anti-Graffiti Spray

why not, seems easy enough

It seems spraypaint graffiti could be easily countered using a spray on/paint on coating placed on clean walls. This coating could prevent paint from ever bonding to the surface and could only be removed using solvent included with the initial purchase.

If this were possible than any simple splash of water would reemove the undesired paint.

All current sprays or coatings require either A) a solvent or B) reaplication of the protective coat

lemme know if this already exists, im considering pursuing the chemistry behind this

Anti-graffiti paint widely exists [link]. Not sure how well it works though.

damn, can't find anything better matching then graphite, but what's the point of that?
theircompetitor, Jan 07 2004

responding to "already exists".... I was envisioing a coating that doesnt require additional solvents to take off the graffiti. Perfect for the lazy shoppe owner who just allows the rain to remove the unwanted graffiti

Baked. My father had some cans for when kids would spray-paint signs and buildings as pranks when he ran a golf course.

lkbio540, 1st 8 products in hazel's link seem to be the very thing.

Anti-Giraffe Spray I would buy. Damn giraffes!

It seems all the products in hazel's link require the Tor'Gaurd solvent to remove the graffiti. Maybe my description wasnt quite acurate enough. This spray would be applied before any graffiti was sprayed on. Paint needs to bond to a certain type of surface. This coating wouldnt allow the paint to bond to anything, simply allowing it to slide right off. Do they make clear teflon coating at a cheap cost???

       you mean unpaintable walls?
theircompetitor, Jan 07 2004

exactly....removable, with a specific solvent if u decide to paint the wall at a later time
lkbio540, Jan 07 2004

Here they use a thin wax coating on target surfaces. It is steamed off with any graffiti and new wax then sprayed on.

lkbio540: it doesn't look to me as though hazel's linked TorLife requires any special solvent to remove the graffiti. You are always going to need elbow grease to remove the graffiti, however resistant the surface, and at the very least soapy water. I imagine the solvents on the page simply hasten the process.

Grafiti is art man. It's like deep and stuff...man. Cuase it's totally like art man. Totally.
Space-Pope, Jan 07 2004

[space-pope] Weeeeell. Some of it *is* good stuff, y'know, if it's well done.

On the other hand, I don't think the people who spray "Fuck you" and other heartwarming sentiments on the walls of the ginnel next to my house have really understood that. It's kinda like someone cooking a box of microwave fries and claiming to be a chef. Sad bastards.

All that said, if a really talented graffiti artist painted a wonderful, original mural on the side of my house without asking for permission first, they'd still get a clip round the ear'ole...and a scrubbing brush.
