Small pets like fish, birds or hamsters have a calming and therapeutic effect on the emotional state of their owners, but while you are gazing serenely at your little fishies, your hamsters and birds are suffering from a lack of your much needed attention. Likewise, your fish feel neglected and yes
even a little jealous while you are cooing at your budgies or giving your gerbils a much needed ear scratch.
