h a l f b a k e r yI like this idea, only I think it should be run by the government.

How to use "Automated head of beer" -
1) Choose a table.
2) Select either joint drinking or individual drinking.
3) Take the tube from your "pint glass and tube" and plug it into drinks feed nearest you.
4) Pair your mobile payment device with the drinks system and select your tipple. If
you're the first in your group to register, this drink will go for the whole group.
5) Watch as your glass fills with the required beverage.
6) Start drinking, returning your glass to the table top at regular intervals. Note how your glass is replenished every time you return it to the table.
7) You can disengage your payment device at any time. From this point on your glass will not be refilled.

This does introduce the problem that you are continually diluting new drink with old drink... |

Ah, you got a point there. But that could be turned into a game of trying to make your last pint having the least ppm of the first. |

When a friend of mine ran a pub, I used to benefit from a variation of this idea - periodically, I'd be asked whether I'd like a "top up?" and, having given the nod would be pleased to find my glass suitably refreshed. Amazing how long a single beer can last under these circumstances. Sadly my friend no longer runs the pub, for some reason it had to close down due to unprofitability - though neither of us could figure out why - it was a damn good year though. |

The solution, my friends, is to down every drink. Cheers! <hic> |

How would you implement rounds in this system? Or are we to abandon this? Also; how does one change beverage? |
|
| |
I think a tap at each table makes more sense... pay at the pump
and it cuts you off once the dollar amount you paid has been
reached. Like a petrol station for beer. |
|

//How would you implement rounds// You could do it per unit time. 10 minute chunks of time. Alternatively it would have to be a kitty system, where you split the bill equally. Both systems lack the satisfying honour associated with buying your mates. |

Rounds could also be implemented by only metering whole pints. When everyones glass is empty (the minimum baraometric back-pressure on the tube), LED arrows could light going round the table stopping wheel-of-fortune style on the next round buyer. The central display shows "This round sponsored by Chas - all hail Chas !". |
