Automatic Fork

inspired by my grandmother, with lots of love

It so happens that my family is pasta loving. Recently, at a family dinner (spaghetti) my grandma expressed to me the pain in her arthritic fingers saying it was hard for her to spin her fork to roll up the pasta. The simple idea I thought of would be to design a button actuated, battery operated spinning fork to automatically roll the spaghetti for you.

Be the first to have one at your local Italian joint.

1/2 baked elsewhere. Seems like I've seen this baked somewhere, but I can't find it. [Worldgineer, Oct 04 2004]

Don't know if it's widely baked, but I have seen film footage of such a device at some time or other.

I'm thinking that this would be able to be done very inexpensively now. Those cheap, battery operated lollipop rotators seem to be a likely candidate for adaptation.

I reckon I saw one of these on "Tomorrows World" once.

I found a couple of links which say that a patent was filed for just such a device back in 1950. Whether true or not, it certainly makes this idea less than original. Baked.

Sounds like a device to me.
