The word "How?" springs to mind at this point.

Bedside Amenities

Anyone who says they wouldn't want this is a liar.

After a hard day working overtime at work, doing household tasks, or doing homework and instrument practice, sometimes you just want to go directly to bed. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Wouldn't it be nice to have certain amenities waiting for you at your bedside?

You get home, and you know you are going to bed as soon as you get home. You flip a small switch on your wall, and go to brush your teeth. As you are taking care of assorted personal hygeine-related activities, your automatic bedsite amenities machine goes to work. Carefully crafted and designed to be in the form of a bedside table, it would mix your favorite nighttime beverage, be it a simple glass of ice water, a cup of tea, or some highly alcoholic beverage to eat away at your liver. It would gather the correct dosage of any medications you may take at bedtime, as well as providing a novel, carefully bookmarked from last night. A fresh pair of your favorite nightclothes would be nicely folded and waiting for you as well, complimenting the other items. As you return from the bathroom, an elegant layout of bedside comfort items greets you to help you escape from your stressful work life and enjoy a peaceful night's sleep. Could also be used to have a cup of coffee in the morning.

I don't see where a machine is needed here. These things are all readily available and easily acquired with very little effort.

The traditional way of implementing this in the UK was to employ a "Gentleman's Gentleman" to look after one.

I have a small refrigerator, microwave oven, and tea making machine on one side of my bed. On the other side is a small TV, VCR, Hi-fi, a network point for my laptop, and the chargers for my phones. These items seem to fulfill most of my needs. I'm just waiting to find an iron lung on special offer , then I won't even have to breathe for myself .... life is goooood.

You underestimate how truly idle some people are.

Not for me, BC. I'd have to fire Jeeves.

curious 8th, are there any pork pies in that fridge?

BC, one problem, so I come back from brushing my teeth and there is a nice cup of hot chocolate waiting for me. I snuggle into bed, sipping away while reading my book. Problem is once I'm done I need to brush my teeth again. This amenity needs a little sink and such so I won't have to get back up.

do you really need to brush after a cup of hot choc?

One will find the usual ablutionary ammonites in the batroom, I would imagine.

8th, a tea making machine? How hard is it to boil water and drop a teabag in there?

Ho ho, 8th and Rod. No thank you, just a glass of water for me.

In my truly sarcastic and ironic fashion, I think I'll(as the only Texan halfbaker) go make myself a cup of tea. (Why do we even have tea in my house? That's a surprise.)

What do British people typically put in their tea? I've got a bear squeezie bottle of honey, a bag of sugar, and a sprig of fresh peppermint.

There are other Texans present, BC.
