This security measure would take advantage of 3 things -
1. The brain ignores unmoving images (which is why you
don't see the veins in your retina - see link).
2. Computers can now follow your eye movements.
3. Each person has a unique retinal pattern.
By putting the 3 together we'd
have a computer that could tell who's looking at the screen and could match the motion of its picture to the eye movement of anyone who's not authorized to see it. That way people looking over your shoulder will only see a blank screen as you type away. (They might see a blur instead of a blank screen if more than one person is spying on you.) There is something similar that is popular amongst japanese school girls which I read about in Wired! It shields the screens of cell phones to those who are not looking directly at it. I'll try to post link. [+] |
