They come on when you enter the room.

Or go off when you turn off the device. Saves power.

Smart House http://masseynews.m...ases/13_05_03e.html
It's a house. It's also smart. [st3f, Apr 27 2005]

I kinda did this one already....note in particular the third paragraph. [krelnik, Apr 27 2005]

Why use bluetooth? Is the bluetooth transceiver within the lightbulb itself? what causes the detection of the presence of a person?

Presence detection circuits for turning lights on are well known (most people have something like this at their front/back door).

Mmm, what was that movie that had pictures that changed whenever someone entered a room?

Are you saying that you carry a small bluetooth device on you and it activates parts of the house when you walk into a room?

If so, then this is pretty much what the 'smart house' concept is about.

I'm still looking for a pun.

st3f, Apr 27 2005

No, no pun. Just a bluetooth-activated lighting system.

I did a quite similar idea a while back, see link.

I like it. We have the Lutron Radio Ra lighting system. It uses a priority protocol. I assume you can hook the Radio RA up to a computer and then control however you want. Bluetooth would be kinda cool: controllable from a CELL PHONE, PDA, LAPTOP or whatever you are carrying around.

So I guess "bluetooth" is the new "usb"? So why bluetooth? Why not firewire? Why not infrared? Why not.... microwave? Why not..... infrared hopping?

I'm looking for a pun too. Am I at least close?
