The ball was heavy, and the goldfish inside looked weird. That was not surprising, as there was an inch thickness of glass between me and the water inside.
I slipped my fingers into the grip and launched into my action, releasing the ball perfectly... a long, steady spin clockwise and the pins
scattered. Strike!
When the ball returned there was Goldie, waiting for his next ride. I slipped another food and oxygen slug in through the port in the thumbhole, to thank him for steering a perfect strike. The slug was about 2.5cm long and 1cm in diameter. Coated in clear rubber, the pellet protruded slightly into the interior, converting CO2 back into O2 and Carbon. Goldie could nibble on it, anytime he wanted. Time for a water change, tonight.
He seemed to appreciate the gesture. (?) Close but no goldfish

Could also be adapted for hamsters, I would think. Without the water, or else it could be ugly. Sounds like fun!+ |
|
| |
I accidentally stepped on a slug today. Man, was that gross. But I'm all for feeding Goldie some slugs as log as she keeps giving me turkeys! |
|
| |
Trying to imagine a hamster, running to keep up with a bowling ball... <failing> |
|
| |
I'm sure we've discussed the physics of trying to roll things
with fluid centres... |
|
| |
True. This one has an obvious external force applied. |
|
| |
Rolling things, just automatically bring hamsters to my mind. |
|
| |
(Maybe I *do* need professional help. Vet or shrink, vet or shrink?) |
|
| |
<Camper van Beethoven> ...take the goldfish bowling, take them bowling... </CvB> |
|
| |
[blissmiss]: Why not a veterinary shrink? They charge a bit, but they can be found all over Beverly Hills, East Hampton, and wherever else people have too much money. |
|
| |
[UB] - I wasn't referring to the discussion in "Roaming Goldfish Bowl," but to the fact that anything with a fluid centre will have too much internal turbulence to maintain a roll. The ball will go a couple of metres before stopping completely, just as if you were rolling it along sand. Try spinning a hard-boiled egg and a soft-boiled egg and see what happens. |
|
| |
Detly, you are right but if thrown as hard as one usually throws a bowling ball it won't stop after a few meters allready. It will surely make it to the end. |
|
| |
Anyway, bowlingballs do not roll over the lane, they glide. The last few meters of the lane are a rougher surface so they start to roll at the end just before they hit the pins. That is how a ball can suddenly curve.
The first part of the lane is waxed so the ball can slide. |

Unabuba, I really did try to hate this idea but I can't. I have to bun it. Even if what you really want is to stick it up my bottom. |
|

Next, Great White Shark Zorb. |

//He seemed to appreciate the gesture// |
|
| |
Sure. You mean appreciative like dogs do when they roll belly up for a scratch. Fish have different body language. When they roll belly up, believe me, they're not appreciatin' nuthin'. |
|
| |
Piscine torture. Piscine skeleton. |
|
| |
Do goldfish get motion sick? |
|
| |
Animal cruelty!! sorry UB, [-] |

I do not agree pericles, Unabubba clearly incorporated well thought through ideas for fish friendly technology. |
|
| |
Fish are already trapped in an extremely reduced environment in a fish tank. Stressing them out is unfriendly, to me. |
|
| |
What if they really like extreme sports? Have you ever sat down and had a heart-to-heart with a goldfish? They have some fascinating insights they can share with us. |
|
| |
i don't think all that banging around in a bowling ball could be very good for the fish, even if it is surounded by thick walls. |
|
| |
maybe fake goldfish, embedded in a lucite ball, would be a better idea. Have you ever seen the bowling ball with the phoney skull on the inside? same thing. |
|
| |
[+]. It's a goldfish, for pete's sake. My brother used to have fish that he fed goldfish. Hell, for five bucks, he'd swallow a live goldfish whole. |
|
| |
I tell you what, put a guinea pig inside a transparent basket ball. It won't mind the bouncing, hey it's seeing more of the world than it would in it's hutch. If you poke some food through a hole and give it some water every day then it'll be just fiiiine. |
|
| |
For ten bucks I'll swallow a live guinea pig. |
|
| |
Would you be a guinea pig for ten bucks? |
|
| |
Hell, I can beat that. For $20 bucks I'll turn into a pig. |
|
| |
You can get a sex change for $20? I'm assuming that it is not performed in a registered healthcare facility? |
|
| |
Ok, for 20 bucks I'll swallow [Blissmiss]. |
|
| |
Bet she wouldn't swallow you. (Did I just say that?) |
|
| |
Guys, let's edit this stuff, or I'll edit it for you. That's uncalled for. |
