CD air vents

Extra cooling

Those of us with high speed CD drives know the annoying roar of a disc spinning at full speed. Why not put that rotation to good use as a auxiliary cooling device?

Simply add air vents to the front and back of the drive. The force of the spinning disc creates airflow to help cool your computer. Air filters are highly suggested.

Because then the disc wouldn't spin as fast.

Surely without having fan like incisions in the CD it would only produce a very minimum amount of airflow anyway.

[baconbrain]: It would, because the drive motor speed is servo-controlled.
[benindubai]: Althought the idea mentions "the spinning disc", there could be vanes on the disc turntable instead.

No, I think we need to devise CDs with vanes on them. And all that additional surface could hold additional data.
