[Though an individual can solve his/her problem by replacing the phone with one which includes a display, this solution attempts to give a centralized solution that enables all users to access the feature no matter what kind of phone]

In this what would happen is Immedietely as you key in a number on the landphone, the exchange will give feedback using speech synthesizer as to which digit is pressed.

Also, once you have dialed in the whole number,the exchange will repeat back the number. Then you have to press 1 to confirm or 2 to dial again. If you are too sure you keyed in the correct number, you can also interrupt the speech synthesizer by pressing 1 to force dial it immedietely.

This is only an extension idea. Please dont rate this: On newer fones a special key in addition to "!" key would be to have a "say" key whcih will, any time repeat the number you have keyed in till now. for eg. you want to type "65230433" when you press "6523" you get confused. so you press the say button which will say "6 - 5 - 2 - 3 press 1 to continue or 2 to start again"

       Yup! I will get a phone with the display. But that will solve "my" problem. But when the problem exists in such a huge number of phones that are yet to be converted, it is much more feasible to give the feature in a centralized place. With a single solution, we can give the feature to *all* the people regardless of what type of phone they have.

       It s also much easier to add one more button that produces a special dtmf tone than integrating an LCD, making the phone much more cheaper.

       Given that you have to go out of your way to buy a phone without a display these days, and that handsets seem to break every two to three years, this is a temporary problem at best.

       Sorry to churn this, but a caller display is useless to the blind unless it was in Braille, and not all visually impaired people know that. This would be useful for them.
