My cat Pete is only nine months of age and yet I know that at some time in the future I will face a day when he will have to leave me to use the great scratching post in the sky.

When this happens, who will sit on the sofa with [jonthegeologist] and myself, sharing the disappointment as the Watford FC result comes in, warming my feet with his little body and purring his approval of Heidar Helguson?

The Cat Kit will provide everything the discerning owner needs to preserve the memory (and presence) of their feline companion for years to come.

Comprising formaldehyde plus assorted tubes for administering same, heater (to mimic the feline hot water bottle experience), motor (to replicate the breathing) and vibrator (for lifelike purrage) for installation within the catbody cavity, the Cat Kit allows your pet to fulful your needs from the afterlife.

Pete lives. Forever.

Annotation:

Had to put down one of my horses - a big beautiful bay. I would have loved to taxiderm him, with little rollers in his hooves, and use him for tack storage. Sigh, some expenses are not to be borne.....

       No.

You can have taxidermists do this for you if you really want. I think it's mighty messed up, myself.

       Sick bastard.

a life is special and nothing can replace, the best way to moarn is rember how someone lived not to focus on their deaf. However a + for the thought

I think sort of thing should be left to a taxidermist.

goodness, this seems to have evoked a bit of a storm.. as a fan of Pete, I wonder whether it might be more fitting simply to get a new cat, and call him Pete, convincing yourselves that he's just a bit more sprightly than before.

i will. there will be treats right?
xclamp, May 13 2004

That's just creepy. let it die, man.
schematics, May 13 2004

It has indeed provoked a storm [neilp]. Perhaps it wasn't obvious that this wasn't an idea I'd *actually* put in place.

       Replace Pete? Are you mad?!
hazel, May 14 2004

       No, but Pete would be.
Detly, May 14 2004

My Pete is better looking than yours Dr Bob as [jtg]s picture shows, although if truth be told, his goalkeeping skills are less refined.
