This isn't a very exciting idea but I was just caulking something and I had to go find a knife to cut the tip of the caulk pack. There should be a knife or some scissors on the caulk gun itself.

Cool, and could easily be part of the existing handle and trigger like a guillotine.

They got'em. I have one from Home Depot with just what [2 fries] said. Little hole in the handle that snips off the tip. $3.50, orange, comes with a spring pressure release to stop goop from coming out when you stop pulling the trigger, and a little attached wire for poking the tube seal. Nifty.

[Brand name censored --admin] Toothpaste tubes used to incorporate this kinda thing. I'll see if I can't dig up a retro-ish pic.

I thought, at first, this would be a caulk gun with a bayonet fitting so you could 'square off' any line of caulked-stuff.

You have half a croissant from me for the re-naming. Now find a creative category choice and I'll give you my vote even if this is baked.

Hold on, **Hold On** just a cotton-pickin' minute.

This idea isn't about a bayonnet! It's about a knife that you use to open up the plastic tube on the cannister...

My comment above was that I imagined a bayonnet that you used to manipulate whatever gunk that you've just squeezed out - not the plastic nozzle. They're not the same thing (unless it was detachable and you used it to cut the nose).

       So. What's the script [mattgrosso]?

       "FIX BAYONNETS - CHARGE !"

(As we used to say on the construction crew I foremanned, "what you do with your caulk is your business")
