One of my similar ideas involves a paper shredder dumping into the central vacuum system. [link] If this feature was used a lot, emptying the wate bin would become a problem. I propose that the vacuum machine itself become a simple blower, sending the waste through a flexible hose to wherever the main trash cans for the house are. The cans would be fitted with cyclone lids similar to those used for hobby woodworking. A straight pipe run would probably be preferable out to the cans, but flexible hoses would need to be used to connect to the lids. If the home sends a huge amount of trash out through the system, more than one lid may be preferable, the output of one linked by a hose to the input of the other. When one fills up, the waste goes over to the other.

Using this system, the central vacuum could become more than just a way to clean the floor, but a way to dispose of dry trash in the home.

[fogfreak], it sounds like you are describing a "Shop Vac." Is that right?

Central vacuum systems are not new.

The key ideas are that the system stays in one place, the collection bucket is seperate from the blower assembly, and trash that comes through the system is dumped into the family's existing outside trash cans. In that regard, it is not a shop-vac, and I beleive it's not a central vacuum redescribed.
