Central vacuum systems already come with many accessories, such as dust orifices that suck away sweepings at the press of a button, and of course the hole in the wall for vacuuming the carpet. The shredder interface would come in a new or retrofit package. The new installation would come with the shredder,
and actually be plumbed and wired into the system. The retrofit package would be a simple funnel that fits under the existing shredder and plugs into the wall port.
Shredder paper pieces are sucked away as the paper is shredded. No dust, no emptying. The system might need a feeder of some sort to make sure that paper isn't dumped into the pipes too fast.
At first I thought of this as a whole-house trash system, used for vacuuming too, the main unit being a small hammermill in the kitchen. However, I thought it might receive too much abuse. Of course, with dumping all this waste into the vacuum system, there would need to be something other than the normal dust can. [link]
