Watching a man I know trying to eat a Japanese Bento Box lunch, about an hour ago, I realised there's a need out there for chopsticks that are easier to use.

Sure, a fork works better for most people but that's not the point. It's an aesthetic thing; a question of immersion in the experience.

Chotstick Fingerstalls would be fashioned from either plastic or metal and slide on over the first two joints of the thumb and index finger.

With a short chopstick protruding from the end of each one they allow the user to pick up food between the (now elongated) thumb and forefinger. This is far easier for Westerners to learn, unless they already have trouble opposing their thumbs to their forefingers :)

Quite similar to this idea, but without the palm of the glove. [jurist, Oct 04 2005]

I've seen training chopsticks for kids. Some are connected at one end and others have rings where fingers can be inserted.
