Coin funnel

Don't fumble for exact change - throw it all in the funnel

Every now and then my wallet contains too much coins so that it becomes a drag to carry around. And still they keep coming in because for speed and convenience I rather pay with bills at the cashier's counter. The coin funnel helps: just empty your wallet - all the coins in it, that is - into the funnel. The coin sorting mechanism which is waiting at the other end knows how much you have to pay and sifts through your change to get the exact amount or at least a part of it so that the rest of the transaction can be executed with bills only. I only wonder if the elderly who really need this machine would ever trust such an apparatus.

This is already Baked in many supermarket self-serve checkouts which are WKTE.

True - but it'd be handy to have this at regular checkouts. It would save time. Moreovermore, it could return any surplus cash as the largest possible denomination, to the advantage of both the customer (fewer coins to carry) and the supermarket (supply of small change).

Though I note that if you added a funnel to the supermarket "self serve" machines (which I have yet to notice do things quicker in any sense than a real live cashier), instead of the coin slot, you'd have this idea.

Some do have funnels instead of coin slots.

I had some trouble finding the meaning of WKTE. My next machine will be an acronym resolving device.

Nevertheless, over here where I live I never saw a self-serve checkout nor any resemblance to the coin funnel. They had coin dispensers at the checkouts in the 70's and 80's, but not the other way round.

Well, I cannot believe I made this mistake. Please help me find the culprit.

Go to the ATM in Japan, coin slot for deposits, also if you have a pressing desire to withdraw 571 Yen (which will all be in coins) you can do that at the ATM too.

I've looked around, and it appears that we omitted welcoming you to the halfbakery, [Toto_Anders]. So let me do that right now - welcome to the Halfbakery.

On the left, under " meta " , there is a help file that may be of assistance to you. But it looks like you're off to a pretty good start, so carry on.
