There could be a lottery in which the prize is a personal performance by a popular band. The band would be paid a standard fee for this performance. The lottery ticket revenue would cover this cost plus enough motivation for the idea to get off the ground. Only certain bands would be willing to parcicipate. Before purchasing a lottery ticket one could check which bands were participating and decide whether the purchase is worthwhile.

       Oops! I recall that now. It was always for just one band, though...a cheezy (in my opinion) band.

       I guess the only original element is that multiple bands would participate knowing that they only might play that extra show for profit. Contracts with record labels could have provisions for such agreements. The winner would have to choose a date which doesn't conflict with the touring and/or recording schedule of his/her choice of band.
