Too many of our holidays seem to be about extraordinary events, be they Easter, Labor Day, Christmas, Independence or Federation Days, etc.

A holiday dedicated to the lazy, to the unappreciated, to the lowly, to the downtrodden and forgotten, to the unpartnered, to the unemployed, to the slobs of this world, would surely be a good thing?

Good for their self-esteem, good for their prospects, good for everyone who just needs to veg out for a while.

No-one cares when it is, just that it is.

Baked : it's called 'The Weekend'.

Jinbish, Nov 27 2003

I remember those. They were fun.

UnaBubba, Nov 27 2003

You need to find them again... or halfbake a time making machine: A computator based device that will examine your busy schedule and weight all activities, before re-scheduling your days to give you more 'free time'.

I would suggest a very brutal AI that tells you in no uncertain terms that taking the day off is the optimal course of action.
(For the record - I am +ing this idea, I love the concept)

Thank God - I thought I was going to have to eat potato salad while sitting on the couch. Yuk. Love the idea though [ub] +.

Maybe it's subliminal. I've just been instructed by a doctor to slow down and eat the roses a little more often.

Hey, I know you. You're Blissmiss. You're the one who sometimes does nothing.

       Happy to oblige.

       I'm having one today.

//before re-scheduling your days to give you more 'free time'.//

Wasn't there an idea on here once about a scheduler that would schedule, at random, "empty" meetings - so would turn up to one, on time, after a hectic morning, realise what it was, and spend an hour relaxing...?

Detly, Nov 27 2003

Damn! Now there's an idea. I'm going to start doing that. Err... wait... I'm self-employed, aren't I? Bugger!

Thanks, [UnaBubba]. I'd like mine made out to cash. +

I like the good and true and average part, but the downtrodden and forgotten part seems out of place. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I'd guess average was somewhere between lazy and uninspired. Downtrodden and unemployed verges on oppressed, persecuted, subjugated, which don't sound average to me, and might on their own merits (or lack of merits?) be granted their own holiday, or day of observance, or whatever (by some group claiming solidarity or whatnot, not that there's anything wrong with that).

I want this AVERAGE, dammit, holiday, when I can feel good about sitting on my couch drinking a beer watching crap TV, wiithout having to feel like I belong to the "oppressed goup of the week," (or whatever cause celeb everybodys getting bunched panties about).

       Anyway, whatever.
