This is a stripper pole affixed to the hood of a car.

Its an automotive option that might be chosen by exotic dancers

Almost http://shop.platinu...ch-Pole_p_376.html#
but I prefer the hood mounted idea better. [FlyingToaster, Jun 24 2014]

A real one ? or a "Flying(about)Lady" hood ornament. [+] either way. The former can be lowered to joust of course.

I was thinking a real one

Why not? They put wing walkers on stunt planes -- this would be the next logical (erotic) step. Can you mount it close enough to the edge so that passing rush hour motorists can slip a few bills into the strippers underpants while slowly passing by? Bun! [+]

You'd think there'd be a market for some kind of dodgem/stripper crossover here - if only as some kind of concept art installation piece.

I don't think the dancers would choose this if the car was in motion- but hey, guys parked in a parking lot for lunch might enjoy this. If the car was in motion, the dancers couldn't let go of the pole...besides your car will need a sail for when there is no dancer on the pole!

pole dancers don't really let go of the pole
vfrackis, Feb 18 2014

Really? How do they go home?
xandram, Feb 18 2014

So, obviously the pole must be detachable, to allow the dancer some degree of freedom of relocation. Once they arrive at work, the unit unpins from the car and drops right into its base on the floor.

       WAAA!

They take the pole with them presumably.

I know I've seen this at least once. Was a cursory internet search performed?

Probably the pole in the bed of a pickup truck would be safer because the drivers vision would not be obscured. Also if the truck got going fast the dancer could sit down in back and wrap up with a blanket.

Although if the pole on hood option was something the dancer chose for her own car, she would have to park, get out and dance. So less risk of obscuring the drivers vision because she is dancing, not driving.
