Dental exam toothbrush

Checks your gums every time you brush

My electric toothbrush is pretty smart. It knows when I’m brushing too hard and vibrates to tell me to back off. It has different speeds for “whitening” vs gum massage. It knows when I’ve spent long enough on one area of my mouth and beeps when it’s time to move to the next. Although that’s just a timer, 15 seconds for each quadrant.

When my dentist examines me, she sticks a probe between each tooth and Into the gum line, to see how far down it will go. If it’s more than 3mm any place, she tells me to brush and floss that area more carefully.

So make the toothbrush a little smarter in pressure detection. It doesn’t have to be precise as my hygienist’s feeler gauge - but if it can tell an area of my gum line is looser than should be, change the timing of the beeps so I spend more time there, and maybe change the speed of the brushing action. brush

Sure - but only in its own knowledge areas. There are plenty of subjects where I’m a lot smarter than a toothbrush.

Uh, I’ll let you know when I come up with one.
