I'm no scientist but I imagine this would perhaps definitely work. Before going to sleep, wire your head up to a highly sensitive brain activity monitoring device, set to record the electrical signals and their characteristics during the REM period of repose. The next day if you want to experience your dream again you can simply get this 'device' to stimulate your brain with the exact same signals it recorded applied to the relevant areas. It really couldn't be simpler.

This is half-baked in many SF stories (and I could have sworn it appeared here several times over; has [jutta] done a lot of tidying up lately?).

no I just rushed in headlong having found a highly witty website & imagining I could contribute. Maybe I should watch & learn first.

hi stupop! welcome to the 'bakery.

don't feel too bad, i also made the same move when i first found this wonderful place, and had a similar reaction. suggestion: try rummaging around a little more to get a feel for the place, and what sort of ideas have been half-baked already. there's a lot to take in, so don't rush and enjoy your time with the rest of the 'bakers. the provided link is good place to start.

       [marked–for–expiry] WIBNI.

I figured this might reappear immediately after I delete it. Theory confirmed. What do we do now?

jutta: Leave at least one of everything. Or make a list of deleted WIBNIs that is presented to all first-time idea posters.

Searching for descriptive variants is time well-invested. Better to sort through the 111 listings for "dream" than to specify "Dream Catcher", for example, which doesn't appear.
