I sometimes think that not all toys need to be happy, joyous little things.
For instance, there are times when I'd like to feel distinctly superior to my teddy bear but he's relentlessly cheerful, with his Jehovah's Witness Door-to-door Terrorist smile and sparkling, bright eyes.
Drizzly Bears
look like they might be starting to get the 'flu. They groan every so often, to elicit sympathy from you, and they always feel a little damp and sweaty, like a slightly sick kid.
The upmarket versions even whisper the occasional suggestion about ice cream and hot chocolate, to make you feel a little better.
Not everyone needs to have an "Anthony Robbins" outlook on the world, all of the time... especially on rainy Sunday afternoons.
Heh, oh yeah, Meanie Babies

<considers posting link to vacation picture: bears in Woodland Park Zoo> |

They're sad, [half]? Yeah, like bears who are stuck in zoos and evoke our empathies. |
|

Sorta. Their oft drizzly weather could give them a case of SAD. |

I wonder... do the animals that live in dark, wintry climes suffer SAD? |
|

Dunno. I'll ask those bears the next time I'm up in that part of the country. |

I just remembered a line of toys that were a parody of Beanie Babies. I think they might be what you're looking for. Can't remember what they were called. |
