This may already be baked, judging by the number of dodgy umbrellas I see in the city when it rains.

The umbrella comes new with bent ribs and parts of the fabric rucked up to allow more rain to actually reach the user.

Sells well to the office workers at the bottom of the food chain, so they can play the sympathy angle when they are looking for a job, partner, life... etc.

It does not employ Star Wars technology. Nor does it cost $100 million.

Baked! Well, at least, this is kind of a dumb umbrella too. (No offense intended, [kaz].) [Pseudonym #3, Apr 23 2002, last modified Oct 05 2004]

That's the idea. I met a man with no umbrella...

       ravenswood, you forgot

       4) Use a plastic bag, roll up the handles and wear as a fetching hat. It's waterproof, it's light and it's heavily branded. What more could a young roustabout about town want?

take a large green garbage bag, cut small holes in side near the closed end-used for arm holes- and a larger whole in the very bottom for your head. Put it on instant raincoat, and you will be clearly visible (and absurd, pathetic) to oncoming traffic.

Actually, [UnaBubba], it would be even dumber if it did employ Star Wars technology, and cost $100 Million.
