Think cool. Think wild. These exciting appendages could be poised snugly on the top half of your ears, swinging up and down with your every step. Made of strong but lightweight fibers, the earwings will lift your spirits while fluttering in the slightest breeze.

Many models are available from dragonfly to penguin to Airbus 330. And why not also purchase the flapping cap with battery-driven motor, to palpitate your wings on calm days or when feeling hot or just a little embarrassed?

Adolph Weinman: Winged Head Liberty http://www.oldcoins...ory/10c-1916-45.htm
The 1916-1945 poetic precursor featured the likeness of Elsie Kachel Stevens (wife of poet Wallace Stevens) and was a pre-Roosevelt symbol for the March of Dimes fight against polio...another sort of fight for flight. [jurist, Oct 05 2004, last modified Oct 21 2004]

       Yes. Think dragon wings.

one could peek out bashfully / flirtatiously from behind large ones like a chinese type fan. these I like - not painful to wear I trust.

Trying to see the attraction of looking like a mutant Vulcan. And failing, I'm afraid.
DrCurry, Mar 23 2003

Flavius: What do you call those?
Spock: I call them ears.
Flavius: Are you trying to be funny?
Spock: Never.

       "Airhead!"
"Thank you."
"You're welcome."

       I'm jealous
po, Mar 23 2003

Human ears are just plain daft, they don't even swivel.

Actually, Earwings are already around. I think it was some company like Lancome. When they had those freaky lace eyebrows. Also, those intense ear cuffs with spiky ends. But not flappy like yours. Hi, I've been lurking for a while.

. . . and I'll sing you a song and I'll try not to wing out of key. Oh, I can fly with a little help from my friends.

...on a wing and an ear
hippo, Mar 24 2003

This is a brilliant example of halfbakery at it's best.

Totally daft, totally feasable, totally croissant worthy.
Seaneeboy, Mar 24 2003

Apparently this is Baked in the Cremaster cycle, whatever that is. (See link.)

saggy is probably the complete antithesis of flappy [bliss]
po, Mar 24 2003

everyone is picking on my grammar tonight. it will be my spelling and lack of caps next.

saggy is sort of floppy and impotent. flappy is alive and virile.
po, Mar 24 2003

You talking about cats or neighbors?
DrCurry, Mar 24 2003

       lovers..

I can't find one anywhere in the inventory.

Kids in Britain in the 70s used to have bizzare bouncing headgear. Something boppers? Weally boopers? ...

I know I'd get some for my daughter... :-) ahhhh.

This isn't the first example of "Earwings", even prior to the "Flapper" era. (see link)
jurist, Mar 25 2003

jurist: Ah, dimes from my childhood that may have had some role in the idea germination. "...Liberty wearing a winged cap symbolizing freedom of thought." Sort of like a halfbakery flapping cap.
FarmerJohn, Mar 25 2003

At first glance I thought this was "earwigs", little hairpieces for your ears.
