End of the World Calendar
Past and Future

This would simply be a calendar showing all of the dates in the past that the world was supposed to end and all of the dates in the future when it's still supposed to end. Each date in the past would have a brief description of the reason it was supposed to end and what happened to the believers if it's known (like the group in France a long time ago that thought it would end in a flood and built themselves a boat to escape only to have the boat flip over, causing them to drown). Each date in the future would have a brief explanation of why it was supposed to end (Example: 12/21/2012 would be on the calendar becuase that's when the Mayans thought the world would end.)

Fortean Times http://www.forteantimes.com
Mentions strange things that have happened on this day in history. (Their 'Breaking News' section is worth a look too.) [imaginality, Nov 29 2006]

       Those silly foreigners.... (just kidding!)

Clearly they were correct if they hadn't built their boat their world wouldn't have ended.

What? But that's just a couple of days before Christmas. The miserable bastards.

The 'On this day' section on the Fortean Times website (link) occasionally has a 'the world was supposed to end on this day' item, but only rarely. I like your idea a lot. Each month could have an appropriate photo or image based on one of that month's apocalyptic predictions.

A very good idea. Maybe we can use this to figure out what went wrong each time; possibly event start an end-of-days bugzilla.

What the prophecy really says is that by this date humanity would have arrived to a higher level of conciousness.. but the common misinterpretation ( "the world is coming to an end!!") makes me wonder if we'll ever get there.

I really like the idea. Another perfect manifestation of America's need for chaos and passion for destruction and apocalypse. Bun.
