Ender's Iraqi Game

War on Terror simulation using predators

Use web services to control predator drone flight patterns, and allow thousands of soldiers to "take a turn" at controlling the drones.

Scores will be given to each run, based on criteria, and the best UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) runners will be assigned to increasingly more sensitive missions. Negative scores for getting shot at or shot down, positive scores for valuable information and target sightings.

A similar approach could be used for satelite map hunting for intellegence and phone record searching as well.

I would imagine that web latency would make this a waste of a very expensive UAV.

I think the operational approach of putting very bright people through rigorous training would work much better than allowing people to treat these machines like games. [-]

At least he knows about Ender's Game. Very great book (though Douglas Adms is the best).

Ender's Game tipped its hand about halfway through the book. When you know how it's going to end, it ruins all the fun.

//Ender's Game tipped its hand about halfway through the book. When you know how it's going to end, it ruins all the fun.\\ Lucky for me, I didn't get it untill the very end. thus it was exciting till the end. Great book indeed! (though Douglas Adams is the best)

I didn't get it until the end either. Did you cheat?

I didn't get it until about 3/4 of the way through. I prefer Iain.M.Banks.

Maybe you should read the book, [UnaBubba].

I MOST CERTAINLY agree with unabubba!

He's suggesting that a game be made to simulate the UAV, and the people who score the best actually get to fly them (or so I take it).

Nothing original in the "idea," been done in "The Last Starfighter" and "Ender's Game" (as even the author pointed out).

And in Ender's Game, best described as "guilt-ridden fiction", the protagonist was unhappy when he figured out what was going on.
