Fancandle USB
The different fans move over the candle before their individual action is activated.

One fan might spin and shoot a firework, the other might call a chef into the kitchen, the third of twenty might open windows. Who knows. The point is that the different fans are chosen based on user input or a preset program, and the fans are powered by the candle before they trip the signal for that particular fan's event. That is all, minus the implications.

       You're drunk, aren't you?

       At least it's a fairly short bit of drunken rambling. Often, drunken rambling is tediously lengthy. Anyway, [-]

       <forensic scientist>

       We've got the remains of a 'smart house' controlled from a PC, that seems to have collided with a fantasy about having a permanent chef and fireworks range. Ooh - this bit must have hurt - some thermodynamically implausible candle-powered fans have got snagged on an extraneous USB interface and choked on a rather limited random-event generator.

       <constable>Good evening sir, are these your implications?</constable>

       Originally, I thought this would be a suitable interface for slow computers. That is, there would no longer be any arm flailing about what the f the computer is doing after you open an application, it's clear the fan hasn't even begun moving yet...

       Then, I realized it could serve as the sort of concoction also understood by [pertinax], thanks.

       Sorry, I simply don't get it. [-]

       If I blow on them, will my computer speed up?

RayfordSteele, Jan 24 2008

       No, but if you blow on more than one at once, Windows will crash. Contrarian [+] because:

       - I want to boost my ego by showing that I understand it (updraft from candle blows fan, fan generates tiny current, current triggers action by computer).
- It would look, er, beautiful or elegant or arty or something.
- With small enough fans, it would work.

       Admittedly, the drink of choice was wine.

       There isn't anything to get, really. I was just brainstorming the union between candles and computers.

       Rayford, What's more is that you can choose which program to speed up depending on which fan you blow, yea! But, seriously, the device would need protection from this sort of trickery.

       It seems your wine attracted whine. Damn those impurities!

UnaBubba, Jan 24 2008

       // Damn those impurities //

       Like, with a huge concrete structure, tens of metres high, blocking a deep narrow valley ?

8th of 7, Jan 24 2008

       No, that's for the imnpurities.
