Flipped-Open-Cam

In the summer I like to sit in the park with my Laptop....

Lunch break. Its pretty outside. The sun gleams on my table inviting me outside. I'd like to sit on a park bench and check on some reports as i simultaneously munch on my peanut butter sandwich. I strategically pick a bench with the best possible view. Flip my laptop open. Damn the screen is located right in front of my view. But it does not obstruct me, because my laptop has a small cam integrated on the back of my screen with an aperture that perfectly fits the size of my screen (though the lens are much much smaller) my desktop image is replaced by a constant stream of live footage of the world in front of me, trees, green grass, animals playing fetch. My desktop icons are there too, but seem to be floating. If I want to get some serious work I can just open an application, but for those in between moments, after checking my emails, creating a word document, I don’t have to flip my screen back down to see what’s happening in the world around me.

Oh and while we are at it, why cant laptops have an integrated web cam above the keyboard so that I can video conference without the need to first attach my external cam?

there is that broken text again, nom. are you putting too many < br > 's in? its very distracting...

       Po, I added the
at the beginning of each line so that the text does not turn out too wide. But I'll change it now.

       Any better?

I dont understand this. Do you place your laptop at head height then ? Otherwise surely you can see whats going on behind the laptop in you peripheral vision.

       Internal webcams are well baked.

[Bobble] The idea is to be able to see part of the view that the screen blocks. and not just that, the idea of replacing a desktop image by live feed is interesting to me.

So in other words, you want to be able to view the real world by viewing it on your laptop screen?

I would never, ever pay for this feature, but if my laptop had it, I would use it. +

This would seem easily bakable. Take a laptop with built-in camera (eg sony picturebook series). Add a little bit of software that uses overlay mode (just like winamp's avs overlay mode). Done.

I have an LCD clock that is transparent. The digits float in the air. It is not perfect because the polarizers take out 50% of the light, but I can see through. Would this work with the LCD screen on a laptop too if you remove the backing?
