The price of couriering a package on a same day delivery to another city can be really expensive. For instance, it's not uncommon for a very small package to be sent from say Toronto to New York and be delivered there the same day for $500.00. If this were an overnight or postal delivery, the price would be much more reasonable.

However, sometimes packages just got to be there right away. This proposal is for a website or service that connects individuals with shipping needs or courier companies with a database of available frequent fliers who are travelling from and to the points of shipping on the same day. These people would register with the service and notify the company when and where they are flying to.

This scheme is quite feasible as there are probably a great many people who would be willing to cut the cost of their flying and shipping by using this service. There should be a screening process to ensure the fliers are bondable and that they wont be used as drug mules.

there should also be some sort of liabilty release for the courier if the contents of the box can't be flown on commercial airlines.

This has been SERIOUSLY baked for decades. My dad turned me onto these agencies about 25 years ago. There are several in New York as well as in other big cities. The business model that they work on is the same as what's described here.

The usefulness of these agencies has declined considerably in recent years because FED-X and others have gotten so good at it. Even so, they're still around.
