Ever thought that it would be nice to have somewhere to throw together your ham'n'cheese shotgun (green olive wrapped in a soft cheese segment wrapped in a smoked ham slice) ?

Simply slide out the fridg-o-shelf and away you go !

A regular 'fridge shelf can be made in two parts, one of which slides easily under the other to provide a good 4 sqft of snacking prep-zone.

Would it come with fridge elves to clean it after use?

Could you mount a keyboard under it?

Leaving the fridge door open for moderate periods of time can increase your energy bill, and HASTEN your vegetables decent to expiry

Oddly enough, advertising your post has a recipe in it actually increases your fishbone count.

No-one mentioned the reference to ham even though my username is [piggywig] :)

On a lighter note [kropotkin], as Proudhon says, "all pork is theft".

[Letsbuildafort] on the contrary, once you open the fridge, all of the cold air spills onto the floor anyway. My fridge won't restart its cooling cycle until the door is reclosed.

Can I also say that [po] is one of Edward de Bono's words for an undecided state between yes and no. Nice ariel though :)

There are fridge models now that have a built-in flip-down shelf in the door. They are usually designed to access one of the door shelves from the outside, the point being that one get grab a quick drink (and have a surface on which to set the glass) without opening the door (lessening the problem mentioned by 'fort above).

To bake your idea, you could just store your sandwich makin's on this shelf instead of milk or soda. (link forthcoming)
