When lightning strikes the earth it sometimes fuses the soil into a glassy solid, called a fulgurite. They are fascinating things. Some geologists collect them.
Rather than rely upon chance, I can imagine creating molds of unusual shapes; a man leading a llama, for instance, and filling them with
pellets of bronze or perspex then setting them in the ground.
Using the Benjamin Franklin method, entice a lightning strike to fuse the pellets together and then polish selected facets.
Voila! Quirky, beautiful artworks.
Who knows, maybe we could do one in the shape of a barbecue? Ones that don't look like fossilized turds

A man, with a very surprised look on his face, looking up at the sky, while holding a string. |

one of my favourites x-files was an episode where a character could control lightning. one night he was particularly p****d off and his buddy wails: No. Man. Not the cows, again. Come on, don't. Don't do this. Not now. |

Nice link, [jutta]. They look like fossilised turds. |

UB brings down the tone of the HB once again. |

I'm thinking that the described method wouldn't work so well. Could you conduct some field tests and get back to us? |
|

There's some Frecnh researchers that are triggering lightning by firing rockets trailing conductors into storms so that might be a slightly safer way to initiate one's artwork. |

Sorry, [po], I wasn't sure whether the Philistines would know what coprolites were. We are trying to conserve syllables, you know. |

Raw material for Twiglets, no? |

It's entirely possible. Having tried them once, I found them something of a novelty. My son loves them. |

They do, however, look a lot like the things in [jutta]'s link, don't they? |

If it's going to be art then names are needed: |

I saw a whole heap of them tonight. My son's science teacher collects them. |
