Roland lay back on the leg-press bench, rhythmically pumping the weight away from him with long, powerful, sinewy thighs. Esmeralda knelt demurely by his side, polishing his nails, and trimming his cuticles.
He moved on, this time selecting the seated rower, and beginning his cardiovascular workout
on the machine. Michiko began a powerful kneading of the muscles of his back, working in time with him, sliding back and forth with him as he worked.
This was the life! A gym where you attended to your personal grooming while you did your workout. Smugly, Roland pondered what he would do with all of the spare time he would have left over at the end of the week. [link]

Esmerelda should *be* "the weight". |

Hmm... then you would need a whole set of Esmereldae, in varying sizes. |

Followed by a whole set of Michikos, again in varying sizes. |

You go first. I want to neither exert myself while receiving a massage nor while anyone is poking at my finger- or toetips with a pair of sharp cutting implements. |

That's why I made the manicurist work while I'm doing leg presses, and the back massage while I'm rowing. |

The bit being worked on is basically motionless. Using that downtime for other activities is a pointless sort of efficiency, like drip coffee makers for cars. |

I combine visiting the gym for a strenuous cardiovascular workout with being driven to work (on my bicycle). |

That's more like it, [hippo]. I once went to a stress management seminar. The lecturer suggested that instead of going to the gym, it was wiser to buy a pushbike, ride to the gym, check it's still there and then ride home again. |
