Half a croissant, on a plate, with a sign in front of it saying '50c'

This would work fine, except in terms of success.

Furry balloons
no-rip hot air balloons

The balloon's cell is a structure not a bag to rip . Like fairy seeds or a giant pom-pom . Heat is designed to leak , flow inside and around the conductive structure to persuade air molecules into leaving the structures volume for the advantage of flight . Also ? Logic ? If the max limit of a balloon is like the trip from the bottom of the sea to the surface , heat is then needed to fly into the air . What state change is needed to go from the top of the atmosphere into space ?

Ignition.

State change? Why, you'd have to pull the bottom out of the false vacuum that we all live in. Of course, that would destroy the universe, but it would levitate this idea.

Oh , I see egg kniting ions to create a false vacuum

Why is energy always needed ? what do superconductors do again ? when they are cold .

wjt, Sep 05 2003

Shiver, while trying to control the baton?

A balloon can be though*t* of a volume with particles more energetically bouncy than the surrounding particles . Less bouncy , bounce out of the way , the more bouncy are forced up . * more density down , less density up * The heat state gives stronger random motion , but wouldn't spin state give heaps of flick to the bounce . (Logic yes/no?) A superconducting wire pom pom could spin flick all the air molecules out of the volume space creating lift . a virtual , wire skeleton , magnetic vacuum bubble (startup would be a bottle of liquid nitrogen)

       (Logic [ ]/[X]?)

I did however find humor in "designer" heat and the alluded mystic whom sets air molecules free so they can fly. Oh, and the visual of a chopper having a bad hair day.

Tiger Lily, Sep 06 2003

yes , floppy hairy fabric helicopter rotor blades . "designer heat " is just the pattern of electromagnetic waves generated . Nothing to do with not how atoms and molecules are thrown around in waves . ;-) Any fair volume of logic helps when something is only theory lined by some mathematical measured constant facts . A nice little compact stone of facts would do me nicely . all power to new and varied physical measurements .

[wjt] How much weight does it take to hold down the vacuum inside your head?

I know I'm not normally the quickest to grasp an idea, but what in hell is this person on about?

//(startup would be a bottle of liquid nitrogen)//

       I get it. I think.

An MLM business for mystics, surely. The bottle of "liquid nitrogen" must be the company's trademark tincture of synergistic *ethers, wild herbs and *mushrooms.

Either I'm coffee deficient today, or this idea reads like some kind of abstract prose.

A little parietal rock always helps.

Tiger Lily, Sep 07 2003

       1) Nothing is nothing - definition fact so a vacuum that spontanteous generates particles ain't nothing . 2) electromagnetic waves are a motion of something defined as a photon . What the hell is a photon ? and don't describe the photon as measurements - that is like saying a music box is 30 cm by 30cm by 30cm with a repeating measurements of certain sound frequencies . Yes I have got the definition of nothing in my head. Using the perspective of art how does science sculpture , draw a photon ? with a greater solid volume of facts . Then we may get that less energy costly magical leviation .

Apologie - Sorry , I'm bored with societies flat surfaces , simple boxes , clear plastic bags , and tons and tons of same western products and thoughts to create furriness , sparks , magic , wonder and danger over took me . Boredom should not license a person to rant blury logic . nothing good results from free association

Blah,blah,blah,............I was so looking forward to a concept which had something to do with Furry Balloons. Now that is something I don't think I've seen or heard of before. Imagine pliant rubber balloons with a furry covering. Happy, happy thoughts.....sigh.

//nothing good results from free association//

[wjt], I consider free association to be the essence of invention. This idea, in my opinion, is perfectly fitted to the halfbakery. I also consider an idea's popularity via accolades and bun collecting to be an entirely separate distinction.

Tiger Lily, Sep 26 2003

[wjt] I enjoy your double-babelfish prose. Here is my read of your idea, which may be close or far from your actual idea.

//not a bag to rip // Not just a balloon
//Like fairy seeds// Dandelions, or other object made entirely of "hair" shooting off in all directions
//Heat is designed to leak, flow...// You will heat the "hairs" to a high temperature, which will decrease the density of the air around. With enough friction in the "hairs", the object will be dragged up with the rising air.

I like it. I'm not sure the usefulness, and it will cool quickly and come back to earth. Unless you have some light, compact heat sorce that will travel with it.
