HEY KIDS! New Gearios will allow you to make the machines of your dreams! Winch the cat off the floor, while you eat your breakfast... Make a pump that will pump milk up a straw and squirt it into your mouth... amaze your Mum.

New Gearios are just like Cheerios but they have toothed cogs in varying sizes to allow you to make a limited slip differential for your RC car.

When you get tired of playing with them, just brush off the cat hair, add milk and eat.

       This could get meshy.

Mum, I poured milk on my cereal but it won't synchro!

Just like little cogs, only crunchy!

Kewl! Glad to see you're back on form, good buddy.

<Mom to UB> Try skim milk as a friction modifier.

RayfordSteele, Sep 29 2005

The cereal could hoist the milk to the top and pour it on itself.

//Simple gear-ratio play sets are doable. RC car LSD is not//

This is the HB, where anything that stays within the laws of thermodynamics and dosen't require magic is possible if you throw enough time and money at it.

With well-formed crown gears and some whipped cream I could turn you out a Ferguson torque sensing differential, if you want.

On form, [DC]? D'ya think? I just counted my output and I've posted 15 ideas this week. Surprised myself.

All that pent-up something or other.

       Yay for [bz].
"And all that whining...I do wish you'd stop eating those straight cut Gearios."

I can see working gears easily being made with cookies of the sort that are pressed in to molds. "Teddy Grahams" like I had the other day seem to hold a lot of detail and shape.

Cereal might be tougher as most of it seems to be puffy and slightly irregular. I assume Cheerios puff and are at least partially cooked by the pressure applied during an extrusion process that creates their shape.

       There's some helicals in there...

Mom, I had a perpetual motion machine right here and Stevie ate it! Ma-am!

theircompetitor, Sep 30 2005

hey zeus! those are some mighty fine gears me dear!

schmendrick, Sep 30 2005

HEY KIDS! This month only... 2 only worm spline gears and two outsize worm drive bevel gears in every packet!

UnaBubba, Sep 30 2005

BTW, thanks [bris]. Your illo is extraordinary, as usual.
