A large Geisha fan or simply 2 lightweight poles in a V shape with cloth in the middle; in a 2D gimbal: the wind pushes it down; at the bottom of the swing, the fan folds and comes back up, where it opens again. A fin on the back makes sure it's pointed into the wind.
Mechanical doohickeys required
to fold and unfold the fan at the right time and move the fulcrum depending on wind strength. Geisha

No butterflies were harmed in the creation of this invention. |

Could this be used to accumulate stored energy to power an automatic flyswatter ? [+] |

Somewhat disappointed that there aren't any actual Geishas involved.... |

Trust me there's one on the sales brochure. |

You may be even more disappointed when you do a little background research and discover what a geisha girl really is and does ........ |
|
| |
DrCurry has done plenty of background research on Geishas, and wasn't the least bit disappointed. |

I had always thought geisha girls were basically professional hostesses and companions, with no sexual overtones; wiki notes that the term "geisha girl" refers to prostitution, however. |

Get back to the idea, guys. |

Your doohickeys would probably be a composite wind-strength determining assembly having a variably pivoted trigger lug continuously activated by anemometer-rotated centrifugal-weights governor. Such assembly would be in trigger-switch mode, has winch-activating lever function, is tension-spring loaded and supported by axial-radial combination bearings subjected to continuous torque imparted by shifting wind vanes/fins. |

Good luck! Beware of illicit encounters BTW. |

I don't think I need a separate anenometer at any point. |

We have 3 actions to perform:
a) closing fan at BDC
b) opening fan at TDC
c) moving fulcrum to get full extension. Originally I thought that a partial-deflection cycle would cause the fulcrum to move for the next cycle, but now I'm leaning towards making it a full time process based on the velocity of the downswing. |
