Google Ear Horn

Prediction: Google's Android, Plus and Glass projects will implode because they suck.

Google Ear Horn is here to save the day and provide accessibility at the same time.

Hearing is more exploitable than seeing since the lower bandwidth allows for agile code debugging.

Google Ear Horn is audio augmentation. Starting with Glass apps for the blind that socialize audio description, Google could revivify its commitment to accessibility, deflect media attention from its internal soap opera and explore the future all at the same time.

Clearly lots of back and forth about this from some of my on line fans http://evillusion.w...task-for-evolution/

       Pardon?

I think that if you attempt to find evidence supporting the claim that hearing followed sight, in terms of evolution, you will fail. The biological structures associated with basic hearing (such as what insects have) are much simpler than the structures associated with sight.

       I hear [Vernon].

I see what you're saying, and have not researched it yet, but was thinking that the simplest animals would have had to have been alimentary canals with propulsion, and scent-detection was probably built on top of that, and light-detection on top of that, and that the sound- detection system, although the front-end bandwidth is lower, is probably more about the back-end information storage and analysis than just about hearing the sounds, just because the senses are in a row, and was thinking that evolution wouldn't have jumped around and did a "1-2-4-3", or would that be a "2-3-5-4"?

Both vision and hearing have evolved independently several times over.
MaxwellBuchanan, Aug 29 2013

It's not the order of evolution that's going to be the problem. The issue is the current de-evolution of hearing, which, by my observations, will be essentially complete before I die. (I'm factoring in both hearing loss in my generation and attention- refusal in subsequent generations.)

My quarter-uncle Thaddeus went deaf in both eyes - didn't hold him back.

Did that mean that if he clenched his teeth and went "MMMMMM" very loudly, it didn't make televisions flicker, [MB]? Incidentally, i have an idea with a slightly similar name to this.

// if he clenched his teeth and went "MMMMMM" very loudly//

I don't know about that. He seldom clenched his teeth, although he did sit on them once.

Plus is certainly doomed (unless Facebook suddenly vanishes in a "mysterious accident", after which Google reports that Zuckerberg "cut himself shaving." The Google Assassin program is reportedly going well.). And I'm not optimistic about the fate of Glass, due to privacy backlash and so forth.

I wouldn't say Android is "certainly doomed", though. Android's actually running on considerably more phones than Apple's OS at this point, and I'll be honest, I've actually quite enjoyed using it.

Sorry, what was that again? I had me headphones on.

//Thaddeus went deaf in both eyes - didn't hold him back

I'm presuming that why they used to do the "Kerpow!!!" and "Splat!!!" captions in the Batman TV series, so those afflicted ike that could understand what was going on.

I was just reading a privacy article that mentioned Google Glasses: it said that there's an LED that comes on (didn't mention flashing though).
