The stoic philosophers encouraged people to always keep in mind their mortal nature. Many practical ideas have been proposed to help in keeping this fact at the forefront of our minds. However, none of those reminders are nearly as good as our daily retiring to sleep.
Sleep shares many similarities
to death, at least superficially. Bodily processes slow down or turn off, there is little responsiveness, and in both cases a person lies down in a bed.
Bed of course comes from the Welsh meaning 'grave', which is found in Beddgelert, Wales; literally, 'the grave of Gelert'. Naturally, the connection between the grave and the bed as we know it should be strengthened.
The Headstone Headboard reads exactly like a standard headstone with the 'here lies' and the 'RIP' and 'the beloved son of' and so on, but instead of both birth and death dates it is inscribed with your birth date and in the place for your date of death there is a stand for an alarm clock.
loyal Gelert.

There's a better one in Edinburgh, where the dog in question continued to take its daily walks after its master died, including the stop at the pub for a pint, ending up at his deceased master's gravestone. |
