a fairly simple idea...

I like Heinz baked beans. But the thing I really like is the sauce they come in... so why don't they just sell cans or bottles of baked bean sauce ? great on toast or drizzled over eggs and bacon, the applications are endless !

Tell me you wouldn't buy it !

UK (tomato sauce) or US (molasses)? [jutta, Apr 17 2010]

Maybe ask these guys? http://www.blendtec...unsafe&video=weezer

We wouldn't buy it. It's just a sickly-sweet slightly tomato-like goo. The sort of overprocessed crap that even McBurgers would be ashamed to sell....

(The public can be so fickle, can't they ?)

Take no notice of 8th - he's always like that. I'd buy. Maybe.

trying to recall the taste & can't. ignore 8th, he has no taste...

in fact I'd quite like the beans without the sauce for once.

Well, there's sauce, baked beans, baked beans, and sauce- that's not got much sauce in it...

Put the whole can in a blender = thick sauce thin it out a bit with pork grease, molasses and water.
FlyingToaster, Apr 17 2010

I think this is a recipe or a flavour.

After reading the wiki link Jutta posted I realise that there is a huge difference between the Heinz Baked Beans sold in the UK and the what baked beans are in the US.

I should have made it clear that I was referring to the English version of Heinz Baked Beans (or rather the sauce they come in).
seanchk, Apr 17 2010

I think there's only 2 sauces: tomato and molasses based: both of which are represented by recipes on the 'net.
FlyingToaster, Apr 17 2010

if you'll take some maple syrup, tomato sauce, and soy sauce and cook them together you'll hae a good approximation.
Voice, Apr 17 2010

As long as the can still contains that big slimy Queen bean I'd buy it.

//Put the whole can in a blender //

Wouldn't that lead to shards of metal flying round the kitchen in a rather life threatening manner?
DrBob, Apr 19 2010

Not that it would have a significant effect upon the viability of baked bean sauce solo as a commercial proposition, but I would rather drink a mug of cold sick than consume said product.

Now, where did I put that collander?
AbsintheWithoutLeave, Apr 19 2010

[-] standalone recipes exist, and if you're actually de-saucing cans of baked beans, then you've left a bunch of baked beans sauceless.
