Let's see you try and throw it on the floor now, little man!

I thought this concept sounded familiar. Ah, 2003, and the halcyon days of youth. [bungston, Jul 30 2013]

If the kid pushes the plate hard enough, it can still end up on the floor. So, obviously, you need a bowl- shaped "tray". The kid is surrounded by the bowl, which is flat right nearby, but curves upward to prevent the plate from reaching the edge.

My theory was to keep'em naked in a bowl-shaped stainless steel room with occasional hosings until they're six years old.

Don't underestimate 'em. I once caught a full 8 oz bottle of juice hard in the eye from 6 feet from the pudgy hand of a 6-month-old.

Something like a mesh tent might work. For high- tech dreamers, a radar guided robot catching arm.

Set entire assembly inside shower stall.

AusCan531, in years to come you will be worshiped as a God.

Something like one of those plastic cone collars for injured dogs would be the thing, clamped round the kid's neck and attached to the ceiling by bungees.

Hmmm... now that I think about it, this chair apparatus could work for me during football season. Do you have it in Tall Pleasingly Pot Bellied Adult sizes? Please include the optional beverage holder and air horn... [+]

Finally, someone (someones?) who truly understands me.

Whenever I see someone with a dog in a plastic cone, I ask the owner if the dog is a 'golden receiver'.

Reminds me of Robert Heinlein, who said that boys should be raised in a barrel and fed through the bung, and when they turn eighteen, you make the decision to let them out or drive the bung in. Childless by choice, myself.

Why not extend that to a full sphere?

Because then washing it becomes problematic.
