For the souless corparation that wants to be "hip" and "on the edge."

I know companies already have posters on walls, buses, your ass, etc. But why not secretly hire graffiti artists to spraypaint logos all over the place? Perhaps the message to drink Bud could even be hidden subliminally. (That last bit is a spin-off on sambwiches' idea, I'll admit). Those nutty corparations, what'll they think think of next? They're just _Satan_, aren't they? By the way, have you tried Pepsi Twist yet?

Hiring grafitti artists with advertising purposes is already baked. What is not baked, (and it's why I am giving this idea a +) is that the message could be seen as unintentional but read just as the companies expect it to be in order to sell more products/services. It can work, I'm sure, and it's bakeable.

This has been done for years.

Graffiti is a property crime. Dressing it in sheeps' clothing is unlikely to change that fact.

If there is a consensual agreement between the advertiser and the owner then there should be no problem, but if the graffiti is applied without consent then it's a criminal act.

No, I don't drink PepsiCo products. The Co is for Corporation.

Baked all over the place here. Small businesses hire graffiti artists to do murals / advertising on their stores / vehicles.

This feels like a quote from Pattern Recongition. I never heard it called astroturf, [jutta]. What's the connection, other than fakery?

Augh! Microsoft paid a fine of $50 for putting up hundreds of decals while my friend who owns a boutique in Brooklyn owes $5,000 for Scotch-taping sale notices onto phone booths. I'm so mad my head's going to explode!

He should'a used decals, I tell ya'.

Can you get footage of your head doing its thing, and have someone post it to rotten.com?

Thought i'd chime in since our company ( http://www.altterrain.com ) implemented the MSN8 Butterfly campaign and hire graffiti artists to paint Legal Graffiti Murals.

Please forward any questions to adam@altterrain.com

ANyone familiar with Brick Lane in London will know of Banksy, graf artist extraordinaire, who's now doing his own shows (spray-painting on sheep - lovely) and also CD covers for hip-hop compilations (badmeaninggood)...the thing is, while this is all artsy and cool (Banksy's apparently still dodging police), it's just another example of underground going overground - and we all know what that leads to - loads of poncy ad execs with mullets talking about how 'with it' they are. and lots of people cashing in on 'the next big thing'. ad agencies spend millions of working out what people like, before people have even worked it out themselves. 'cool' has become the biggest con of all time. eugene, mate, dont encourage them.

If you look at the Brasilian beer brand Brahma (www.brahma.com I think) they use several Brasilian and Portuguese street artists as their brand "ambassadors". Nice idea if a bit sell-out.
