So you have hoovered round the living room and all thats left is to clean under the sofa. You pull it away from the wall and...Screeeeeee, you scratch the tasteful wood laminate flooring. No longer.
The vacuum sofa is a regular sofa with a retro-fitted base within the bottom structure of the sofa.
When the hoover nozzle is attached to the port on the back corner of the sofa, subtly hidden from view, pneumatic actuator valves within the base direct the suction in waves under the sofa to pick up any dust and fluff. Never a scratched floor again.

Love the hoversofa idea, but do you realise that the dust and fluff on the carpet is a source of stuffing? Maybe the sofa should move all over the building and plant itself in various places, sucking up fluff until it's completely upholstered therewith. |

Then the cushions of such a roaming sofa could then be searched for coins, pens and mislaid Elvis impersonators. |

[nineteenthly] Bonus purpose: If you sofa is too thickly upholstered, a quick outbound blast from the vacuum cleaner hookup would empty it out a bit - hopefully with a comedic "PLFFTTTHTHBBBF!" sound. |

When it got too full, it could visit a little room with a bin in it and void itself, then come back to where it was before. |

get a bowl and munch on some freshly air popped

It could also have a little compartment like the one in Jimmy Savile's chair, but with the function of a lost property box. It could hoover up buttons, coins, pens, bits of lego and the like, sort them from the fluff, clean them and deposit them in the box. If it found enough coins, it could make its way down the street to the local corner shop and buy you a packet of biscuits as a nice surprise. |

Yes! especially with all of the modifications. One minor one of my own - can it hover and vacuum at the same time - perhaps blowing at the edges and sucking in the middle. Then with a simple joystick control, you can lay back in comfort on the sofa, and vacuum the whole room. |

When at rest it could use Feng Shui to position itself to the best advantage of it's owner's current spiritual requirements. |
