Not a screensaver at all, really

A plug-on or addition or appendage to a current browser, that, when, every time you go away, it saves whatever tabs you have to some cache or other, and replaces what you had on the browser to a set of tabs that represent highly interesting or at least impressive pages to have been thought to have been perusing, with the most impressive one left at the forefront, scrolled to a suitably impressive position. Each day it’s a slightly different set from an ongoing pool. People will think you think, therefore you’re not there.

An informative and illuminating article on the cured foodstuff. [zen_tom, Feb 01 2010]

So when you go for coffee and forget to minimize the Halfbakery, your boss sees "latest stock reports" or some such. Nice.

And, when you return from your coffee break, you discover impressive content to glance at.

OK then optionally, it's really locked but looks unlocked.

Yes, the display could be selected by choosing the environment in which you want to be impressive. Seminary lounge. Homework time. Cambridge coffee shop. Porn star casting call waiting room.

I just need the one that looks like a spreadsheet and can fool the servers into thinking that it is one.

The opposite would also be useful - ie a series of dorky you-tube videos of flying saucers and fart-lighting etc to replace a day's accumulation of worthy browsing. Excellent idea.

can this not be done currently ? a macro/script which saves and closes tabs, then loads a fresh set.

I once got caught at work wikipediaring the "Bacon" article - hardcore pornography might have been easier to explain. The hardest part was counteracting the various implicit suggestions that by looking up something in an encyclopaedia, you are
a) unaware of even the most rudimentary facts about the entry in question
b) have a deep and unsatisfied curiosity on the topic in question
c) have plenty of time on your hands.
