Inflatable Lens Element (without pirates)

Two transparent stretchy outer domes of an optically refractive substance fixed back to back, filled with varying amounts of air.

To dynamically change the shape of an aspherical lens element, pump more air into it.

If the back to back domes with minimal amount of filling form a narrower lens, pumping air into the gap between them forces them apart, causing the effect of a fatter meniscus, and faking the effect of a variable shape lens element.
