You're crackers! <squawk!> |
|
| |
"this is aol technical support service, your call might be recorded, my name is dave, calls cost 50p a minute, how can I help you?" <squawk> |
|
| |
Done. I just frightened somebody from the University of Birmingham, who was phoning to request an inter-library loan. |

Re: link I'll say it's irrelevant, two of those parrots have fur. edit: three |
|

Baked by... wait for it...
The French, who are incapable of sounding out a leading h. |
|
| |
That was hardly worth the wait. |
|
| |
Perhaps there should be an idea for a telemarketer-handling parrot. "<squawk> tell me more <squawk> I'm interested, and want to hear more <whistle>" |
|
| |
I sometimes work with a well-to-do man who loves parrots. A lot. In fact he has 76 parrots. His ringtone is a recording of one of them going "'Ello 'ello?". |
|
| |
My friends have a parrot that mimicks the exact sound of their phone ringing and then he answers "Hello? Helloooo?" and then says "Oh, OK," and laughs. It's pretty funny. He sounds so human. |
|
| |
On the internet, no one knows you're a
parrot |

On the internet, no one knows you're a parrot <caw> |

Crows caw. Parrots squawk. Unless you're a talking crow, [World]? |
|
| |
Parrots make a lot of noises. Maybe mine's copying a crow. <cuckoo> |
|
| |
You callin' me crazy? heh. |
|
| |
Sounded like a parrot copying a mynah
bird imitating a tape recording of
various bird sounds, to me. |
|
| |
Crows are actually exceptional mimics of other bird's calls. BTW "Wossname! Wossname Wossname!" |
|
| |
I work at a company who's initials are LOM - which means answering the phone thus:
"ello-elloem"
I think it might catch on! |
|
| |
"strangers in the night...glances!" |
|
| |
Could be a bit worrying. My neighbours budgie could say a few words, which were: |
|
| |
No need to say, it used to bite. Hard. |
|
| |
Where's fuckin' Ronnie? Ahhwrrkk! Where's fuckin' Ronnie? Who's a pretty boy? Who's a pretty boy? |
|
| |
Once, upon a midnight dreary. |
|
| |
I eat crow. Sometimes. Okay, a lot. |
|
| |
It's five in the morning, I just got off work, all is quiet, I check my E-mail, I check the halfbakery and there you are, scattered all over the world and, |
|
| |
You guys make me smile, nice.+ |
|
| |
according to Peterson's Eastern Birds (USA)the Northern Raven is larger and has a different voice. and contrary to popular belief, (ctpb) a crow cannot be taught to speak.
edit: I just read an article that says all the crow and raven family can mimic, so perhaps some do say a word in the right surroundings. |
|
| |
Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore -
While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
''Tis some visitor', I muttered, 'tapping at my chamber door - Only this and nothing more'... |
|
| |
Edgar Allen Poe, The Raven |
|
| |
What noise does a raven make? |
|
| |
buggar, [po], I was so hopeful, but the blinkin firewall wont allow the sound file to download. active X blahblah... do the birds also sing in Finnish? |
|
| |
anyone out there know how to override a firewall ? |
|
| |
[po] that raven sounded mighty damn angry |
|
| |
In space no one can hear your Squawk! |
|
| |
You guys are stark raven mad! |
|
| |
One of my mom's coworkers had a parrot who was imitating their (the coworker and coworker's spouse) cell ringtones, and being pretty annoying about it. One day, The Spouse finally said, "Stop that!" and the parrot replied "What are you gonna do, kick my ass?" |
|
| |
My birthday is National Talk Like a Pirate day. Just thought I'd share. |
|
| |
Don't have too many tots of rum
[disbomber] or we'll have you put in the
brig. |
|
| |
And the ice age ended on July 19th. |
|
| |
Is that a veiled reference to the Father Ted episode in which Dougal pinpoints July 19th as the day the Ice Age ended? |
|
| |
"The 19th of July...'On this day'...'Galway liberated from Indians'...'Church condemns cars for first time'...Aha! Ted. 'Ice Age ends'" |
|
| |
It is indeed but I can't imagine why I said it, now. Perhaps a comment or so is now delete. |
|
| |
don't you just hate it when that happens. |
|
| |
I'm bored now. Let's play Buckaroo! |
|
| |
You lucky bastard, [disbomber]. I must say that I have personally trained my parrot to take calls for me while I'm out of the vessel.
"Pieces of eight! Pieces of eight!"
"Yes I'm looking for a Miss Lucy Bellwood?"
"Pretty polly! 15 men on a dead man's chest!"
"Ah, thank you so much. I'll try the cell."

| |
Arrr, then this must be disbomber's birthday, then, if ye's been follerin' the annotatin' goin' on in these parts. Ahaarr. 'Appy one, te ye. |
|
| |
Yarr, this be the first of those here annotations that I be reading, and confusing me mightily it has been. But a large tot of grog and a look at the date shivered me timbers enough to regain me much-battered senses. |
