Jackpack
A new storage garment to combat SBS. | |
Over 80% of all students suffer from cold-weather SBS. Along with carpal tunnel syndrome, it is one of the leading causes for dropouts in high school and college.
Cold-weather SBS is a seasonal disorder which begins the moment the student puts on a backpack in winter, and persists throughout much
of the day, causing embarrasment, discomfort, and laundry stains. The condition is exacerbated in cold weather, especially when students wear warm clothing.
Also known as "Sweaty Back Syndrome," the condition is caused by exceptional mass being placed over the main heat-reducing organ of the body. Warm-weather SBS is a standard condition, and not a disorder. Cold-weather SBS however is a health concern, as it can lead to hypothermia. (or not...)
The Jackpack is a specialty garment, an insulated jacket-like object, with a large storage pocket in the rear... or a zip-up backpack with insulated sleeves, if you prefer to think of it that way. Our pattented insulated sleeves keep students warm as they march between classes, but once in class, where the conveniences of modern heating provide relief from cold weather, the student may remove their insulation along with their books.
The Jackpack also solves various other problems, such as loosing a backpack or a jacket. Now both are conveniently attached together, ready to be lost together. a different kind of jack pack

Kinda Baked, really
http://www.walkabou...op/coat-ff-vest.asp ...provided you're not too fussed about the placement of the pockets. (I would point out that pockets on the front are much more accessible than pockets on the back.) And you can get a matching hat. [DrCurry, Jan 29 2008]

So your insulating the back pack from the heat of the back by trapping the heat of the back with some insulation. Where is the solution? |

Is this really a problem? I sweat practically 24 hours/day, because I live in the tropics. WTH is Sweaty Back Syndrome? Is that when you get a damp patch on the back of your shirt because your back is warm? |

It seems like part way through the idea, you forgot what the idea was trying to solve. |

Sounds a lot like a photographers' vest. Worn backwards. With sleeves. |

Until you are knocked unconscious... and someone feels the need to realign your head properly. |
|
| |
That happen a lot at your school? |

It's an old joke about a motorcyclist wearing his jacket reversed when he comes off his bike. Onlookers explain to paramedics, "He seemed OK until we turned his head back the right way." |

That's why I always make sure to wear my clothes rightways when I go riding. |

I think this might be better as a poncho with hood that zips out of the top pocket of the pack. |

Some big pharmacutical company will eventually develop a perscription drug that prevents this excessive sweating. But of course side effects will include dry mouth, chronic itching, shortness of breath and occasional fatigue. It will be something that you cannot take if you are pregnant or nursing so ask your doctor before using it. |

Dehydration seems to work pretty well. Of course, its other side effects are pretty nasty. |
|
| |
Sounds to me like Dehydration has side effects remarkably similar to the drug they're working on to combat SBS. |

Yes, SBS is the wet patch on the back of your shirt. Aren't the tropics so romantic? |
