Lajak

A new, easier-to-type language

I think we should develop a new language called Lajak using only the letters A, S, D, F, J, K and L. Certain words such as “sad”, “fall”, and “Kafka” would not need to be translated.

Other words could be replaced with similar sounding words. For instance the word “dog” would become “daag” and “call” would be “kall”.

Most words would, of course, need to be replaced new ones, to be invented by an international committee. Also; the punctuation in this language would place a much greater emphasis on the semicolon.

Annotation:

       Would semicolon be the only punctuation mark?

I like this;
because it allows one hand typing;
which is sort of Zen like;

       just change the typograms of characters to their dvorak equivalents. Dvorak speed, linguistic purity.

       Most languages could be simplified. They just developed their quirks because people like to play with their language. A new pure language wouldn't stay that way for long. That's unless you have a language purity control department that enforces standards.
You said f*ck instead of fakk! 10 hours community service. (translated from a Lajak court transcript)

       It wouldn't be much more difficult to cope with if G and H were replaced with two of the other vowels, say I and U (useful as pronoun replacements). There would then be ten keys. Leaving the "shift" keys in place and banning capitals would allow each key also to represent a decimal digit.

       As a further enhancement, replace the semicolon key with a comma. A full stop could be replaced with a double comma thus,, A double comma without a double space following could be used instead of a colon. A single comma would mean what it does now, as well as being used in place of semicolons and apostrophes, and universally as a decimal marker (sorry, fellow Britons).

       On my keyboard ';' and ':' are 'ö' and 'ä', giving lots more possibilities.

       So it's not an idea for a stolen pink vehicle recovery system?

       I like this, because on spanish keyboards the letter "ñ" (irreplaceable) is on that same line of characters. So, lajak could introduce this very useful letter to the rest of the world.
