Use lasers to draw lines on popcorn kernels then when they pop they have different shapes
you could even try using a laser to draw lines on popcorn kernels such that the crinkly bit is more pleasant
You could even coat popcorn kernals with a strengthening layer then laser etch then pop to get really
particular shapes
note: rice krispies n corn pops are little blobs of carbohydrate that are like artificial popcorn kernels These could also be laser etched to create unusually ornate breakfast food

maybe useful for those last few that you have to leave unpopped or risk burning some of the others. |

I am not sure how far you could predefine the resultant shapes, as the (inequal) heating and individual internal structure might mean quite some noise, but _something_ would be achievable, which is nice. |

Brilliant [beanangel] I love it [+] |

By making repeated patterns of circles/points, you could create a 3D popcorn jigsaw.
Amazing idea. |

[+] but exploding popcorns already have diiferent shapes. Perhaps by //Use lasers to draw lines on popcorn kernels then when they pop they have different shapes// you mean "have definably different shapes". As opposed to their current random explosions. |
|
| |
Having said this, however, we have to presume that the *all*, or at least most, exploding popcorns have no such random explosions. Adding any information, like predispostion to explode in a certain way will be smothered by the random explosions otherwise. |

Still [+] because it is good... |

I am generally interested in popcorn, because the end result, which relies on so many conditions, collapses into a resultant form. Is this resultant form computable from its original form, and energy source? The basic conditions are so similar, that the random result ( of popcorn shapes) would either point to a more eleaborate initial structure, or a more elaborate process. |

Make them pop into little shoots, so when you lift the lid it
looks like the popcorn is growing |
